|Tell us about yourself and your business.
I love photography and have been in business for about 12 years. I put 100% of myself and my passion into every shoot. I don’t have a natural talent, so I constantly strive to push myself to learn and get out of my comfort zone by doing what many local photographers aren’t willing to do or simply cannot do. However, my biggest competition is myself. I specialize in senior photography, and it’s my favorite genre. I do also offer real estate, couples and family shoots.

|Where do you draw inspiration from?
Various nationally known photographers inspire me such as Jesus Padilla, Jason Lanier, Joel Grimes, Zach & Jody Gray, Joel Francisco Hernandez, Matt Hernandez and others. I try to constantly think outside the box. I may borrows certain elements of others’ work, then I’ll fuse it into something different for my final images.
|What is one obstacle you had when you first started your business? What did you do to overcome it?
Seeing light and color. I started out with an on-camera speedlight, which created so-so images, and often the people in my portraits would have oddly colored skin due to my struggles in seeing color related to white balance and color casts. I overcame all this by forcing myself to learn both natural light, modified natural light, off camera flash and white balance manipulation in post. In short, practice, practice, practice.
|Please share one tip that you found to be successful to share with other photographers.
Don’t compete with other photographers because you’ll discourage yourself and limit yourself. Only compete with yourself.
