We are so excited to feature our very first INSPIRED SPACE here at The Twelfth Year. Please take a look at the stunning new studio of DEVONJIMAGERY! Not gonna lie…there is a little bit of studio envy going on over here!
How long have you been in business?
I’ve been in business for 8 years, but I began specializing in seniors only just this year.
How did you know it was time to have a space for your business?
I started doing in person sales this spring, and after having a few premier preview parties at my house (and kicking out my family, and setting up and tearing down my samples every single time) it became apparent that I had to get out and get a space!
What was your inspiration in creating your space?
Overall, I used my branding from Britney Jeanine Photography + Design as my inspiration for the space. In her designs for my branding, there’s a lot of black and white (stripes, specifically), with hints of gold, pink, and green. I carried that theme throughout my space. There are some Kate Spade inspired elements as well, and Pinterest played a HUGE part in organizing ideas!
What was your budget? Where did you shop?
I didn’t set a budget, but I am always a bargain shopper! My general rule for shopping is to spend more money on higher-impact items. For my accessories around the space, I got inexpensive items to jazz it up a bit. For my larger items like my mirrored table and my sofa, I felt okay spending a little more, since I knew they would be focal points, and they’ll probably end up in my house someday (when I ‘retire’…ha!). I got a lot of things at Target, TJ Maxx, Ikea, and Ross. My mirrored table is from High Fashion Home, and my sofa is from AllModern. I’m also a big internet shopper, because aintnobodygottime for shopping, so I picked up a few things online as well.
How has having a space changed your business?
YESSSSSSSSS. Very much so. It’s one more way I can spoil my clients! It has added an awesome, unexpected element of wholeness to my senior experience. I love that my clients can see my amazing products all the time, presented in a beautiful way. I have a gorgeous space for their premier preview parties where they view their slideshow comfortably, and they can really get a sense of the scale and quality of everything I offer! The dressing rooms make it possible for them to get ready in privacy with a mirror where they can see their complete look. I have places for them to hang their clothes and choose accessories. Plus, my bathroom is pretty darn adorable, if I do say so myself!! 🙂
What was the turning point of your business?
Last fall, I attended the Blink! Conference, and it was a total gamechanger. I realized a few things about myself and my business that I’d never been forced to recognize before. I found out that I am capable of so much more with my business and my photography as an artform than I ever thought possible before! Getting a space was a long-term goal that the Lord made possible much more quickly than I expected, and I’m so, so grateful!
Thank you so much, Devon, for sharing you stunning new studio with us!! We wish you the best of luck!!
