|Tell us about yourself and your business.
I have always loved photography. Some of my fondest memories as a child were flipping through old family photos but at the time I had no idea it was my calling. As my children grew older, I became more and more bored with my “corporate” job and realized I needed to do something that I was passionate about. I started my business in 2009 and went full time in 2014. I specialize in high school seniors and boudoir photography and love every minute of it!
|What is in your gear bag?
Canon 5d Mark III
|Where do you draw inspiration from?
I love flipping through the latest fashion magazines and catalogues but the best inspiration comes from talking with my clients and getting to know them and how they envision their session to be. It’s so important for me to show these girls how truly beautiful they are.
|What is one obstacle you had when you first started your business? What did you do to overcome it?
Lack of self confidence. It is extremely easy to compare your work to others and feel like you are “less” than them, especially with social media these days. I stopped following others work and started focusing on me and my success.
|Please share one tip that you found to be successful to share with other photographers.
Never stop learning and to learn from not only those within your photography genre but also those in other areas. Some of the best tips I have received have been from those outside of the photography world and in areas of photography that I don’t shoot.
