Tell us about yourself and your business.
My passions are my 4 kids, photography, hiking, cycling, swimming and pretty much any other outdoor activity. I started my company 10 years ago. I love working with seniors; starting as strangers and feeling like family just a couple hours later is the BEST! Seniors have so much hope, confidence and vulnerability; a wonderful and magical combination!
What is in your gear bag?
I shot this session with my Nikon D810, 70-200 2.8 lens, 50mm 1.4 lens and quantum lighting.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I draw my inspiration from my seniors! I love how seniors are so full of hope for a promising future, are willing to make life a fantastic adventure and have the desire to put their all into what they believe in. As they get comfortable during the shoot and let go of their inhibitions their inner light shines bright; it is there that I find the inspiration to make a portrait that reflects their uniqueness and all that makes them beautiful!
Tell us about this session.
Kaitlyn was an absolute dream subject to work with! I love the location she selected and the outfits she chose to go with it. Kaitlyn can totally rock any pose and any look and is an absolute sweetheart to boot!
What is one obstacle you had when you first started your business? What did you do to overcome it?
One of the obstacles I faced when starting my business was breaking into the senior market that was already over saturated with extremely talented photographers. Creating a rep program all about the girls having an incredible experience together and feeling like queens for the day was one of the ways that I overcame this. I have partnered with a few fabulous businesses and together we treat the girls to professional hair and make-up services and they get to borrow any clothing/accessory items they would like from a local resale clothing boutique. Afterward we go to a fun location and make a party out of shooting individual, buddy and group shots together.
Please share one tip that you found to be successful to share with other photographers.
I’ve found that the best way to get my subjects to relax is to engage them in constant conversation. Everyone has a story to tell and it is my desire to find out what my subject’s story is. Nothing makes for a better portrait than showcasing a person’s beauty from the inside out!
